In recent years he has assumed teaching the the capstone FTT451: senior project course for the apparel design students. Under his guidance students first research the styling and color trends and begin to develop their senior collections. First with sketches and then pattern development, fabric selection and construction. It’s a real transformational process for the apparel students.

One of the students today expressed that she feels so very different now [as compared to how she felt at the beginning of her last semester], she feels like a “real apparel designer.” Successfully completing the senior collection has filled her with confidence in her own professional abilities.

Along with his students, David has developed his own special collection of five garments for the RUNWAY 2.0 show.  He demonstrated every step of the creative and technical process for his students.

Some of his sketches are available on ZAZZLE items.david_brinson_sketches_tee
